Journalism

While working with The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Temple News, and Phawker I had the opportunity to develop storytelling skills with established organizations that would help me better document the lives, events, and issues of various communities.

As News Accessibility Editor and cofounder of the community-driven news outlet, Kensington Voice, I helped shape a newsroom that assists community members in elevating their voices on vital neighborhood issues and reporting on possible solutions. More recently, we developed initiatives for print distribution and setting up partnerships with youth organizations to produce original content, creating an even greater impact with our audience.

Collaboration with other journalists and members of the communities we report on has helped lead to better coverage of those neighborhoods and helped, in part, to strengthen community narratives.
